Had to get an additional pair of glasses. Must say that Matthew who attended to me wasn’t pushy but has a genuine desire to provide me the best option. The lady (didn’t get her name), who checked my eyes was efficient and thorough. Took some time to get the right prescription but better to do it right than regret later. Price was good and I would recommend it to my fellow Singaporeans to check this shop out. One more thing, a young man came to get his specs fixed. He asked for the price of the repair and the lady said no charge. He as amazed as I was! It’s these little things that will bring customers back. Well done!

I came to Penang with hopes of perhaps making a new pair of glasses. In 2018 I had made a pair of Varilux progressive glasses in a Neighbourhood optician in Singapore, however, it was unfortunate that I could not see near with great clarity nor read clearly at close range with those eye glasses. Being disappointed with the results, I decided to make a new pair of progressives with Specsavers in Australia. During my eye testing in Gold Coast, the lady who was testing me rushed me through the process, I guess she was in a time crunch. The result was that the pair of lenses which were made was better for short range vision but poor for long range vision. Hence it was that when I came to Penang for a Holiday in July 2022, I had hoped to find a good optician that would correct the defects of my previous 2 bad prescriptions. I had stumbled across First Vision Optical via Google Reviews on the internet and boy, I was not disappointed. I scheduled an appointment with them when I was in Singapore and the following day after arriving, I went through a vision test with them. I chose Essilor Varilux lenses because my experience with Specsavers was that the coating Specsavers used for their progressive lenses was quite inferior. On the other hand, my experience with First Vision Optical in Penang was extraordinarily different from anything I had ever been through before with eye testing. Patrick was very detailed and thorough and explained what each stage of the eye testing was about. He took great pains in measuring my eyesight and the result was that when I finally got my specs, the my new vision was nothing short of a miracle, I found I could read at close range, even words which appeared like the size of ants, I could see in the far horizon, sharply and clearly. It was like the world opened up a new horizon and vista. I dare say, I have not seen that clearly in the past 5 to 6 years. It was quite remarkable. I used my own spectacle frames and got new Varilux lenses made. After my eye check, I went back and told my husband to get his done. He too had previously made his specs with Specsavers, the coating on his specs too was degraded and scratched. My husband chose a pair of Alain Delon Titanium frames with clip ons from First Vision Optical and he too went with Varilux lenses on my suggestion. Patrick gave us both a good deal. I smiled when I saw my husband being measured for his glasses, he'd never had been fussed over when being given his eye check and fitting anywhere else but at First Vision Optical. I can honestly say, I have never seen better in my life than with my new lenses. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Patrick for his painstaking care in crafting a new pair of lenses for me and to his amazing team. Also thank you for the Carrot and Walnut cake, it was really very good. I tease my husband that his new pair of Alain Delon Titanium glasses makes him look like Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick. We were visiting Georgetown and the lense from my specs popped out of the frame late in the evening. The staff fixed it very quickly and didn't even charge for the service! Very efficient and helpful 🙏

Leaving this review after many years of patronage with Patrick and Matthew. The team at Vision First are an amazing and experienced team whose attention to detail outshines pretty much any other optician I've ever been to. So much so that whenever I need a replacement for new glasses, I'd fly back to Malaysia to get them sorted rather than going for my more local opticians in my home country.
